INDIAN OCEAN SERIES – EMPTY OCEAN PAGES
The “Indian Ocean Series – Empty Ocean Pages” is based on six map pages from the 1996 Perth UBD which are empty but for ocean. A breaking wave off City Beach fills the empty ocean pages in INDIAN OCEAN – WAVE. The area surrounding the six pages is a painting of the blue map squares, in a mix of phthalo cerulean blue, black and white, the proportions of which changed slightly at each sitting accounting for the colour variations across the painting.
INDIAN OCEAN – BOATS fills the same empty ocean pages with refugee boats which have been found in Australian waters.
